Вже 26 січня у Білорусі відбудуться президентські вибори. Безпрецедентний рівень репресій, порушень прав людини, обмежень політичної участі та доступу до незалежних ЗМІ у Білорусі глибоко підривають легітимність виборчого процесу. У цьому контексті не було виконано необхідних умов демократичних виборів.
Європейський Союз шкодує, що влада Білорусі не запросила місію зі спостереження за виборами від Організації з безпеки та співробітництва в Європі/Бюро з демократичних інститутів та прав людини (БДІПЛ), що суперечить міжнародним зобов’язанням Білорусі.
ЄС продовжує підтримувати демократичне право білоруського народу обирати своїх представників шляхом вільних, справедливих та прозорих виборів. Це має відбуватися в політичному середовищі, відзначеному плюралізмом, де основні свободи, такі як свобода вираження думок, свобода ЗМІ та свобода зборів, повністю дотримуються.
ЄС закликає до негайного та беззастережного звільнення всіх політичних в’язнів та їхньої ефективної реабілітації. ЄС визнає та підтримує невпинні зусилля білоруських демократичних сил та громадянського суспільства. Рішучість білоруського народу, який, наражаючи себе на великий ризик, продовжує відстоювати демократію, є важливим чинником надії.
European External Action Service has prepared a publication of the EU statement on the results of the elections in the Republic of Belarus
On January 26, presidential elections will be held in Belarus. The relentless and unprecedented level of repression, human rights violations, restrictions to political participation and access to independent media in Belarus have deeply undermined the legitimacy of the electoral process. In this context, the necessary conditions of democratic elections were not fulfilled.
The European Union regrets that the Belarusian authorities failed to invite an election observation mission from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe / Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODHIR), contrary to Belarus’ international commitments.
The EU continues to support the democratic right of the Belarusian people to elect their representatives through free, fair and transparent elections. This must occur in a political environment marked by pluralism, where fundamental freedoms — such as freedom of expression, freedom of media and freedom of assembly — are fully upheld.
The EU urges the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners, and their effective rehabilitation. The EU acknowledges and supports the tireless efforts of Belarusian democratic forces and civil society. The determination of the Belarusian people who, at great personal risk, continue to stand up for democracy is an important factor for hope.
